Challenge
The product is mostly optics and electronics. The enclosure had to protect them, manage heat, and still read as an instrument rather than a box.
User and product research
Deployment and handling contexts defined the level of protection required and the surfaces that would be seen, touched and mounted.
Industrial design
A single continuous fold defines the top surface; sharp chamfers and a deep matte anodised finish give the product weight and optical calm at close range.
Human factors
Handling points, orientation cues and service access were placed so the unit can only be installed and opened one way.
Prototype and testing
Appearance and functional models validated the chamfer geometry, fit of the vent detail and the finish under installation lighting.
Final solution
A precise, restrained product form that carries the company's technical credibility into the field.
